Ahoy, all captains!
Inspired by our emblem, the courtesy of , I’ve renewed my old dream to make a map restricted campaign, which means using SH3 Mission Builder we can place our mission in the specific area of the Ocean.
The objective is to cut the area (Indian Ocean for example) from Sh 3 global map,
Then we have to make the trade routes which are already exist in GWX (Persian Gulf – Australia, Colombo – Port-Said etc).
The great problem is that I don’t know how to extract GWX trade routes from the game.
Then we have to place our wolf packs on a randomized place of the route and start the action.
Additional problem is to make SH3 engine to change weather in random way that’s means we will not know the exact weather conditions in the mission, but it’s good to control that parameters.
There are also some minor things such as randomization of wolfpacks displacement in the different parts of the selected area, selection of the small, medium and large wolfpacks.
But the primary objective is to select
1. Specific map area from the global SH3 map.
2. Place u-boats on the trade route. (I guess I know how to make randomized convoys, and specific escorts).

If anyone have any ideas please post them in the thread.

Hey, I have created a map from the one found in Silent Hunter III and made a version of the Indian Ocean. As soon as we get the proper trade routes and such I will enter this on the map and people can download and print this map and use it if they wish when we play. Wink

John, the graphic of your map is outstanding!
Of cause it is 1000 times better then the stock GWX map and we will certainly use yours in the campaign!
By the way I guess we can enlarge the battle area including Coral Sea and Tasmanian Sea.

Nick, it would be perfect for you to consult GWX dev!
If you can ask him these question:
1. How to restrict gaming area to specific region (Indian Ocean)?
2. How to extract layers from the GWX files?
3. How to randomize the position of a wolfpack in the Ocean?
4. How we can control weather conditions of a campaign mission?
With the best regards
Alex.

1. Simply place your units in the Indian Ocean area of your choice.

2. Very complex and potentially game breaking unless you know the intricacies of campaign scripting.

3. Tick the Multi Player box in the mission editor and 'scatter' your starting points (up to a maximum of Cool....now, whenever you play with 8 or less players you won't know which 'slot' you've been given until the mission begins.

4. Go to the mission parameters section and the weather options are near the bottom.

AND IF YOUR THINKING ABOUT GENERATED GAMES ITS A NO GO

BEST I COULD DO FOR YOU GUYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
